Proposed Use of Sponsorship Prize Funds by Municipality
Each participating municipality has identified a community-serving environmental or public space improvement project that would be supported if awarded the Earth Month sponsorship prize funding.
Irvington
Irvington would direct its prize funds to the Arts and Culture Committee in support of the upcoming Butterfly Gallery Pollinator Garden Exhibit along Main Street, helping to advance a creative public art initiative that also promotes pollinator awareness and ecological stewardship.
Tarrytown
Tarrytown would use the funds to install Set(s) of Trash/Recycle/Compost receptacles in Patriots Park, improving waste diversion infrastructure in a highly visible public space and helping to support cleaner, more sustainable park use.
Dobbs Ferry
Dobbs Ferry would help to fund 3 different projects related to Perking up our Parks: Waterfront Park - 9/11 Memorial renovation with native perennials and shrubs; Chauncey Park - deer fencing for a new Miyawaki mini-forest; and Gould Park - a new pollinator garden on a pathway island. Together, these efforts would enhance civic space, ecological health, and community use of local parks.
Ardsley
Ardsley would dedicate the funds to planting trees in municipal spaces to increase canopy cover, contributing to shade, cooling, stormwater benefits, and the long-term health and beauty of public areas.
Hastings-on-Hudson
Hastings-on-Hudson would use the funds to beautify gateways to the Village and Hillside Woods, with signage and native plantings.
Sleepy Hollow
Sleepy Hollow would use the funds for a community sustainability and beautification project in collaboration with the Art & Placemaking Committee: installing 10 pollinator container gardens that also promote traffic calming in downtown Sleepy Hollow.
